Termites are sometimes confused with ants because of their size. When termites swarm their wings will fall off shortly after they emerge. What is left is a pile of wings and termites running around looking for soil to start another colony in. This is when the confusion comes in as termite swarmers are about the same size an ant. The biggest difference is ants have a thin waist line and termites have a solid body. The other noticeable difference is in the antenna. Termites have straight antenna and ants have elbowed antenna.
Other signs beside the piles of wings would be a tube of mud extending from a wooden structure, joist or sill plate towards the ground. This is referred to as a mud tube. It allows termites to move from the soil to the food source. If you break a piece from the tube and it is active the termites will rebuild it in a few days.
Our treatment starts with our pest management professional inspecting your home to confirm the presence of termites. They will inspect all areas for termites and create a map where activity was found, recommended treatment plan and price for treatment. The areas where termite activity is found will be treated with a product called Termidor® ban revolutionary termiticide that offers unparalleled termite control offering complete termite colony elimination in 90 days. For the exterior of your home we utilize a baiting system from BASF called Advance® Termite Bait System. This offers us the ability to eliminate current colonies and protect your home from re-infestations. Our Technicians will return during the beginning and end of summer to inspect your home and termite stations for activity.
